Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building, on Eighth Ave. in front of the building during Sunday Services, and in the lot across McGavock St.

Our Beliefs

Lutherans believe that salvation is a free gift of grace from God. The Bible speaks on grace:

Romans 3:23: All have fallen short of the glory of God; they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4-5: But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.

John 1:16-17: From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Here are some brief answers to questions often asked about what Lutherans believe:

Do Lutherans believe theirs is the only true religion?

As Christians, we affirm the biblical witness of the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus is God's Son, fully divine and fully human. He was sacrificed to pay for our sins, and rose again, defeating all powers of sin and death.

How do Lutherans look upon the Bible?

To borrow a phrase from Luther, the Bible is "the manger in which the Word of God is laid." It is the inspired word of God.

What do Lutherans believe about Creation?

Lutherans believe that God is Creator of the universe. We are stewards and caretakers of this gift.

Where do Lutherans stand on the question of sin?

Lutherans believe that all people are sinners and would perish eternally without God's saving intervention. Praise God for giving us His Son, Jesus Christ, through whom we have love, grace, mercy and forgiveness (John 3:16).

What Sacraments do Lutherans accept?

Lutherans accept two Sacraments as God-given means for penetrating the lives of people with his grace, Baptism and Holy Communion.

Do Lutherans believe in life after death?

Lutherans do believe that life with God persists even after death. Scripture offers numerous hints as to what that may be like, but the only certainty of heaven is oneness with God. This, of course, is a great mystery, and no description of what life may be like in any dimension beyond history is possible.

What must a person do to become a Lutheran?

To become a Lutheran, only Baptism and instructions in the Christian faith are required. If you are already baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, it will be necessary only to attend a membership class in a Lutheran congregation and thus signify your desire to become a part of its community. Active members of other Lutheran congregations usually need only to transfer their membership.
