Missing out on the fun

I’m so excited that I get to go take some much needed time off and relax in Texas, but I’m seriously bummed that I’ll be missing the Country Music Marathon water station this year. It was so much fun last year and completely worth waking up at 3 in the morning.I know it may not be so thrilling to have to meet at the church at 4:30, but it takes time to get everything set up and before you know it there are runners headed your way.Last year, we had a group of Peter’s students from East Academy there helping us and their excitement at the first runners was a joy to see. I think I can safely speak for the whole group that was there last year when I say it was a day full of fun while serving others. I don’t return until late on the 6th, so I’ll also be missing the Bob Evans Annual Pancake Breakfast. I’m disappointed about this also, because I think one of the things that makes First Lutheran so wonderful is the feeling of family that goes beyond an average church’s community feeling. You really get to experience that family atmosphere at any of the meals we have, but the Pancake breakfast is one of the best. I’m also amazed at the generosity of Bob Evans each year. They put together a great breakfast feast for all of us to enjoy and it is an opportunity for the people from both services to all come together and catch up.
