Affirm is a five-day youth event of faith, fellowship, and friends sponsored by the ELCA Southeastern Synod. Grounded in Scripture, the event offers youth the opportunity to develop the ministry/life skills that allow each individual to know and live out God’s affirming touch in Jesus Christ. The theme for this years event is “All are Welcome.” At AFFIRM we hope to learn more about what that means in our daily lives.
AFFIRM 2007 will be held at the University of North Alabama in Florence, 70 miles west of Huntsville. AFFIRM 2007 will begin with registration on Sunday, June 17 at 1:00 pm, and conclude on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 1:00 pm.
The cost includes lodging, all meals from Sunday supper through Friday lunch, an event T-shirt, and all program costs. This year the cost is $325.00.
For those persons interested, immediate registration is strongly suggested. Each year, several of our youth attend, and always return with stories of a great experience. If you are of age (7th grade–College Sophomore), and can at all attend, please do so. For those in need, a scholarship application from ELCA and all forms are available online. First Lutheran also offers a partial scholarship. Please speak to Pastor Miller.
