Be Involved

There are many ways to participate in the life of the Church, in addition to attending worship services.

  1. Discipleship

    • Bible Study

The Wednesday morning Bible study, “Brown Bag and Bible”, meets at the church at 12:00 noon. Pastor Pam leads this group.

    • Dorcas Circle

Meets on the 3rd Tuesdays at 10 am. The purpose of this Circle is to make quilts that are sent to the central distribution center in Baltimore. The Need for quilts has been identified over the years throughout the world. Each year the Dorcas Circle completes between 15-20 quilts. Contact Joanne Baulch.

    • Mary Martha Circle

Meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 10 am. Their main purpose is to provide hospitality, meals, and comfort to those families in need. Contact Cyndie McConnell.

  2. Youth and Christian Education

    • Sunday School includes youth programs for nursery level, pre K- grade 5, and grades 6-12. Adult Sunday School has the “Fellowship” class under Pastor Pam. For more information about any of the Sunday School programs, contact Jenneen Kaufman.
  3. Fellowship

    • 113 Club

Three words say it! FELLOWSHIP, FOOD AND FUN!

This group of “50 years young and more” friends here at First Lutheran have been getting together once per month for over 20 years to enjoy those three things. The 113 Club group has traveled the greater metro area and beyond in search of interesting settings for lunch and an occasional related activity. Contact the church office for the coordinator’s email or phone number, or connect with the church membership director so you can join in.

Our monthly lunch is scheduled the 4th Thursday of each month. We are often treated to an interesting drive in the process of joining our friends for lunch. Some restaurants are new, some are old favorites and every once in a great while we find a “never again”, but that is rare and is even part of the fun.

Sound like fun to you too? Look for the monthly announcement in the Chronicles and email. Please join us. We promise to welcome you warmly in the First Lutheran tradition.

Note: Ride sharing happily arranged. Please call the church office at least 2 days in advance.

  4. Committees

    • Social Ministry/Outreach

This committee oversees the Room In The Inn program that runs weekly from approximately October to May. They are also heavily involved in providing the clothes closet, support for mission partners, as well as year long support for other local agencies. Contact Lisa and Mark Kafader.

    • STEP

(stewardship, evangelism, promotion)- This committee provides opportunities to welcome new members, sponsors new member activities, and tries to help all members become active participants in our church home. For more information contact Carl Stasiunas.

    • Facilities and Finance

This committee sees to the proper maintenance and protection of all property of the congregation. Six subcommittees report back to this committee. Contact Bill Hurt for information.

    • Worship and Music

This committee works with Pastor and the Music Director to plan and coordinate services through the year. They oversee the Altar Guild, Ushers, Children’s Choir, and Adult Choir. Special instrumental ensembles frequently enhance the church services. Contact Ben Hurt or Mark Beall. Contact Sherri Hodde for the Altar Guild.
