GREENING OF THE CHURCH

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20 & 21 At 9 am we will celebrate the Greening of the Church and decorate the church for Christmas. Please call Becky Gregory 646-4866 with any questions. A helper list is outside the Gernert Room. Please sign up, we need your help!

LIFE LINE SCREENING Wednesday, January 14

LIFE LINE SCREENING is here at First Lutheran Church in our Dining Hall on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Flyers are available in the entrance way of each worship area. Pick up a flyer and check with your doctor to see if he thinks this is something which might be useful for you. You must call the 1-800-679-5192 number to schedule a screening.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

The Sunday School children (ages 3 through 5th grade) will perform "Children Tell of Christmas" written by Camille Ross on Sunday, December 14 immediately following late service. There will be a potluck meal followed by the performance. Practice for the play will be during Sunday School hour - the only mandatory practice is on the day of the play, December 14. Please call Holly Baulch at 519-7053 and let her know if your child will participate. Also, we encourage all members to attend the Christmas potluck and performance. Meat will be provided. Please bring a side dish.

POINSETTIA PLANTS for Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion

Members or friends of the congregation wishing to order poinsettia plants in honor of, or in memory of individuals or events, should submit that information and a check for the total cost of the flowers to the church office by Monday, December 8. Each plant costs $9. Please make checks out to First Lutheran with and indicate “poinsettia plants” in the memo line. The plants will be used for decoration of the nave celebrating the Nativity of Our Lord.

NASHVILLE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA CONCERT Dec. 7 at 4 pm

That’s right! The NPO will perform their Christmas Concert here in our worship area. Please invite your friends and come to this FREE Concert in our sanctuary. Dan Engh, a member of our congregation, is a member of the orchestra and has worked hard to get them to perform in our church. Thanks Dan! This will be a great opportunity to experience wonderful music on the second Sunday of Advent, Dec. 7.
